Registered Dietitians dedicated to helping you meet meet your nutritional needs! Medicare Benefits Medicare now covers nutritional counseling with a registered dietitian for diabetes and for renal disease. Currently, these are the only areas that Medicare will cover for nutritional counseling. You are entitled to a total of 3 hours of counseling the first year and a total of 2 hours of counseling each year after that. What you will need to set up an appointment You will need a note from your doctor stating that you have diabetes or renal disease and that you should receive Medical Nutritional Therapy. You will also want to have your doctor’s office FAX your current laboratory values to our office (have them marked Attention Dietitian) at 610 395-9473. You will need to bring your Medicare card and your insurance card for any secondary insurance that you have. If you have secondary insurance, all costs will be covered. If you do not have secondary insurance, you will be responsible for the co-pay, which is $11.80 per hour or $5.90 per half-hour. |
